Akwetey Margaret Fafa Awushie is a Lecturer in the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, University of Cape Coast. She has over a decade work experience in benthic taxonomy and ecology, aquatic ecology and biomonitoring. She was a recipient of the AFD-GDN Biodiversity and Development Award in 2021. Her GDN project is titled “Assessment of ecosystem- based livelihoods on biodiversity of the Keta Lagoon Complex Ramsar Site (KLCRS) in Ghana”. She became a National Geographic Explorer in 2022. She enjoys teaching, research and outreach. She is a member of the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography, Organisation of Women in Science for the Developing World, Ghana Science Association and Ghana Association of University Women.
